Siedimi is a project born out of the need to represent a community by investigating a set of common objects. Its objective, through analyzing and classifying these objects in their singularity, is to transform their specificities into a plurality of patterns and contents, revealing their cultural and collective significance.
I documented 150 chairs within 20 homes in the historic center of Atena Lucana, relating each chair to its surrounding space. I aimed to maintain a constant physical and emotional distance to enable a unique dialogue with the examined objects.
The chair is not only to be understood as a formal object with aesthetic and functional characteristics but becomes an activator of curiosity and meaning concerning its cultural origin and belonging. From an object to essence. From consumption to identity.
My goal is to initiate a participatory process that oscillates between imagination and empathy: a double inventory, or rather a double "census," which, starting from a technical-scientific data, opens up infinite possibilities of meaning for the observer while simultaneously reflecting the intensity and variety of the community of Atena Lucana.
