Ecology of Invasion – Kudzu as a Hyperobject moves between space and meaning, questioning the conditions under which identity takes shape, solidifies, and unravels. Belonging is neither property nor origin, but unstable cohabitation, and national identity is understood as a representational construct: a selective, imagined community that includes and erases.

At its core, an “invasive” plant species raises questions about borders and their porosity. Its rhizomatic, unruly growth disrupts the ideology of landscape, the naturalization of ecological order, and the rhetoric of the margin.

Within this space, kudzu acts as a critical device that deconstructs the grammar of control. It is not merely plant matter, but gesture, presence, friction.

The project unfolds as a liminal zone between biological scale and geopolitical imaginary, an environment where the border becomes permeable and difference is not a threat, but a condition of coexistence. A space where nothing is neutral. Where the alien is not an invader, but a trigger. Where identity is neither property nor origin, but manifests as friction, precarious composition, cohabitation with the other.
